My
story

My writing

I am a Latina settler woman who currently works and studies in the unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) People. I am a student of Associate of Arts Diploma at Okanagan College. I'm a social activist with a vibrant, communicative personality.

Whether as a Journalist, Writer, Doula, Yoga Instructor or Herbalist, my work always has a holistic view and a multidisciplinary touch. I work in favour of collective ethics, taking care of the words, the stories of the body and the possibilities of the mind. I love to think about new possibilities for humanity and the respect for the Earth we inhabit, based on the knowledge and wisdom I've gained over the years studying and working with social justice.

I am open to humbly studying and comprehending different cultures and teachings, which led me to take courses and travel to dozens of spaces. In addition to my studies in Brazil (Abya Yala), I highlight my main experiences that broadened my horizons being and studying in Portugal, Spain, the United States and Canada.

I am in service and study for indigenous sovereignty and traditional ecological knowledge preservation with leaders from Nagô-Ijexá, Lakota, Huari, Kuntanawa and Maya Qui'che traditions. These studies and activism are immeasurable and inform my character and worldview as a writer, doula, activist and journalist.

When I was a child, in southern Brazil, I wrote short stories, poems and song lyrics to translate my imagination and record the feelings I experienced as a child. This was the beginning of a journey as a pilgrim. It is my love for stories - about the Earth, humans, plants and animals - that moves me, that made me travel dozens of countries, study several languages.

That interest made me a journalist and set me on the path of a story hunter and teller.
I have been working as a communicator for 12 years and my work revolves around the struggle for human rights, land rights and social justice. All of my writing, whether academic essays or poetry, is guided by a thread of feminist, decolonial, and ecosocialist perspective.

My creative process is based on deconstructing myself, rediscovering meanings and regenerating my perceptions and memories. Now I write from Syilx Okanagan land and creation, for me, flows better in the orientation of a mate or a cup of ceremonial cacao.
